…Generations have already lost their Appetite to Learn, to Explore, and to Cherish the Beauty of Science and True Knowledge, let alone Pursuing Wisdom…
First of all, I think we excessively use the term “AI” irrelevantly; most of the time, I mean the term “artificial intelligence” is being overly used in a way that is irrelevant to the subject. Typically, when you hear about AI, it could be more accurate to say ‘machine learning’ or even just a ‘model.’ I believe artificial intelligence is still nonexistent. But for the sake of this article, I am still going to use the term “AI” as it is more familiar to our ears.
Now, what is happening with AI today is not just a loss of creativity. It is not just generations basically not learning the basics and concepts. It is not just losing capabilities like analysis or analytic thinking. It is not just a loss of comprehension and curiosity. It is a combination of what I call the end of human beings considered as intelligent creatures on this planet.
The past two generations have already lost their appetite to learn, to explore, and to cherish the beauty of science and true knowledge, let alone pursuing wisdom. Yesterday, kids’ knowledge was bringing up Google and surprising their parents with what they knew. Today, it is fooling their teachers with their ChatGPT-generated essays; tomorrow, it will be putting curiosity and creativity all in a locked closet foreverr. Why does it matter? Because the entire humanity is shaped by those attributes.
So, the fear of AI for me is not really about losing jobs. I promise you more jobs will be created. The problem is that those are not real jobs; nothing will be actually created, produced, or even transformed and shaped as original works.
It will be devastating for businesses and a society relying on the presence of AI techs. All these free AI chatbots are true poison for society. Imagine, in a not-so-distant future, we won’t be able to do some stuff without AI, and just because we now have people who do not even understand the concepts, let alone intelligently analyze information and create content in any and every manner. The joy of creation will be gone, and then we’ll start wondering why more people are depressed. When original works are gone, you start seeing boring patterns in everything, and you start thinking the world is small and meaningless, which is not true. Seeing the world through the eyes of a search engine was already detrimental to the sciences. Now, interpreting the world through AI’s eyes will mean destroying what humans have made throughout thousands of years, the happiness will be gone!
