Virtual NATO

It is very late for international community to act on fighting against Ransomware and Cyber-crime in general but still anything better than nothing.

EU and US coordination on fighting ransomware reminds me of NATO foundation back in 1949. perhaps countries could have considered cyber crime a “global issue” sooner and act faster against organized international cyber criminals.

There have been and will be entities who use cyber weapons to accomplish real-world missions but does cyber world has still same old boundaries and links to real world, or what we are having today is more a cyber life than a real life?

I personally hate the fact that every single day we are more relying on network of computer systems but that does not dilute reality at all. the more life is connected, online, and relying on cyber entities, the more elements of real life are going to be faded in the background which means taking action on having a safe cyber space has actually same level of importance comparing to safety of real world.

monitoring public networks is as much important as patrolling a road at night, fighting ransomware is as important as fighting global smuggling. and I think governments are more than behind and slower than their counterpart; cyber-criminals.

While I enjoy working with electronics, computers, and the fields of information and cybersecurity, I believe our challenges as humans extend far beyond infosec—and even beyond technology itself. The real task, I would argue, is to discover solutions for unlimited clean energy, drinkable water, practical waste management and to address the root causes of hunger, war, and injustice on our beautiful little planet. Our primary goal—each of us—should be to keep Earth livable. That is the true challenge we face.
